Heritage American Milking Devon cows, rotationally grazed on clover/grass pasture year round. Supplemented with organic alfalfa pellets and chaff hay when milked or in training. No grain, no herbicides or pesticides. Milk is stored in glass containers, and available year round through a cowshare program. West Cote Farm is an organically produced micro-dairy operating on pastures in the Piedmont region of Virginia. Their herd of four American Milking Devon's (AMDs) are still hand milked using the cleanest standards available. They chose the AMD to milk and to assist in preserving the breed. AMDs are a critically endangered species because their volume of milk output cannot compete with commercial breeds. Please email them for further information regarding cowshare program.
